Sciton BBL Hero

BROADBAND LIGHT SKIN REJUVENATION IN ST. LOUIS, MO

Sun damage breaks down collagen in our skin, which results in thinner skin with less snap and less elasticity. With less elasticity and resilience, our skin becomes susceptible to developing wrinkles and fine lines. Over time, the sun’s UV rays also cause our skin to produce disordered melanin. When this occurs in a localized area, dark spots (also known as sunspots) can appear.

The loss of collagen and elasticity in our skin is also happening naturally due to the aging process, but sun exposure accelerates this process and leads to premature skin aging and seeing those aesthetic concerns sooner.

BBL Hero (BroadBand Light therapy) can address these issues and more to provide you with a more even skin tone and youthful complexion.

WHAT IS THE BBL HERO BY SCITON?

BroadBand Light (BBL™) Hero is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment used to rejuvenate your skin. This nonsurgical photorejuvenation device is part of Sciton’s JOULE platform, which is a laser and light system designed to provide a range of cosmetic treatments.

BBL HERO IS USED TO TREAT THE FOLLOWING:

  • Sun damaged crepey skin on all parts of the body
  • Dark spots/age spots on all parts of the body
  • Redness, flushing and spider veins on all parts of the body
  • Rosacea

HOW DOES SCITON BBL HERO WORK?

The BBL Hero treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production while removing unwanted pigment and redness to achieve more youthful, smooth skin. Broad-spectrum photothermal energy is delivered to the skin in the form of light. Areas with increased melanin and superficial blood vessels absorb the light, which destroys the excess pigment and closes the vessels to eliminate dark spots and redness. The energy from the pulses of light also prompts a healing response in the skin that results in cell regeneration and increased collagen.

The latest innovation in BroadBand Light therapy is the addition of high energy, rapid output (Hero) technology. The Hero handpiece provides faster treatments, which means you can be in and out quickly and get on with your day. The high energy output is more effective, achieving superior results while providing a safe, comfortable treatment that is less painful than traditional pulsed light therapy (IPL).

The revolutionary BBL Hero offers several benefits, including:

  • Rapid output means treatment is four times faster
  • High energy output is three times the strength of similar devices
  • Thermoelectric monitoring and cooling ensure your skin doesn’t get too hot
  • Minimal downtime
  • Can treat any area of the body

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR SCITON BBL HERO?

If you are in overall good health and want to correct texture irregularities, brown spots and redness in your skin, you may be a good candidate for Sciton’s BBL Hero treatment. It can treat almost any skin type, even darker skin tones that previously were not recommended for BroadBand Light (BBL) therapy. However, patients who have recently tanned their skin, whether from being in the sun or using tanning beds, should not undergo this treatment for at least two to four weeks after sun exposure.

Call us at 314-501-7946 to schedule your consultation at our St. Louis plastic surgery practice, and we can determine if you’re a candidate for BBL Hero photorejuvenation.

WHAT IS THE BBL HERO TREATMENT PROCESS?

Before your treatment begins, we will go over the treatment and answer your questions. Your eyes will be covered with protective lenses. Topical numbing cream is not necessary. The BBL Hero handpiece will be passed across your skin in the treatment area to deliver the intense pulsed light energy. The treatment is often performed in stages to treat pigment, broken capillaries and skin texture.

Once treatment is complete, moisturizer and sunscreen will be applied to soothe and protect your skin.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BBL HERO TREATMENT

You may experience some redness and swelling in the target area after your BBL Hero procedure. Pigment spots may darken. These minor side effects aren’t usually very noticeable and should resolve within a few days or a week.

WILL I NEED DOWNTIME AFTER BBL HERO?

No physical downtime is needed after a BBL Hero treatment. Some patients may choose to avoid social events for a few days. You should wear sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible for two weeks, especially if you underwent a facial BBL treatment. Your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight for a while.

We recommend wearing sunscreen on your face every day to prevent recurrent damage and help maintain your results. (We recommend daily facial sunscreen for anyone, even if you haven’t undergone a BBL Hero treatment!)

WHEN WILL I SEE MY BBL HERO RESULTS?

You will begin to notice dark spots flaking off and becoming lighter and your skin tone and texture improving after two to four weeks.

With proper skin care and maintenance, your results can last up to a year.

HOW MANY BROADBAND LIGHT HERO TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Some patients achieve ideal results after just one treatment, but it usually takes two or three treatments if you have significant skin concerns. If you have very dark and extensive pigmentation problems, each treatment will continue to lighten dark spots and reduce redness. Your skin tone and texture will also improve with each treatment.

After assessing your skin and goals, we can help you determine the ideal number of treatments for your needs. We may also suggest that you consider maintenance treatments to continue your improvement and protect against further sun damage that occurs over time.
